Five bands in one night of chaos and power
The audience will be taken on a journey through folk, pagan tales, and Nordic legends by five bands. Headliners Korpiklaani return to Croatia after six years, joined by Finntroll, Heidevolk, Trollfest, and The Dread Crew of Oddwood. This combination of Scandinavian force and epic charm will ignite even the coldest January night. If you were at Paganfest, you already know what’s coming – louder, faster, and wilder than ever.
Heidenfest – a new chapter in metal tradition
Since 2008, Heidenfest has been a symbol of pagan, folk, and viking metal tours across Europe. The festival is famous for its unique atmosphere, songs about gods, nature, and beer, and its crowd that connects with the bands in ritual-like unity. Zagreb will experience this explosion of energy live for the first time, as Boogaloo transforms into a temple of metal brotherhood and mythological storytelling.

Korpiklaani is a Finnish folk metal band formed in Lahti in 1993. They first performed as Shamaani Duo and later as Shaman, before adopting their current name in 2003. From the start, they were recognized for their unique mix of metal and traditional instruments.
Folk instruments and metal power
Their music combines heavy metal with folk instruments such as accordion and violin. This blend creates a distinct sound that sets them apart. Lyrics are often inspired by nature, mythology and celebrations, with drinking songs being a frequent theme.
Nature and mythology as inspiration
Korpiklaani’s songs capture the spirit of Finnish forests, folk tales and traditions. Their concerts resemble community celebrations, highlighting a connection to nature. The audience experiences a mix of raw metal energy and folk warmth.
Band members and current lineup
The group is led by vocalist and guitarist Jonne Järvelä. The current lineup features guitarist Kalle “Cane” Savijärvi, bassist Jarkko Aaltonen, accordionist Sami Perttula, drummer Samuli Mikkonen and violinist Olli Vänskä. Their diverse instrumentation enriches the band’s sound.
Discography and key albums
The band has released more than ten studio albums. Their latest record, “Rankarumpu” (2024), reinforced their status as one of the world’s leading folk metal acts. Each release brings new energy and further develops their identity.
Korpiklaani as a global folk metal attraction
Over the years, they have played major festivals and built a reputation as one of the most joyful and authentic acts in the scene. Their mission is to unite tradition and metal, offering audiences music that celebrates both nature and community spirit.
Finntroll is a Finnish folk metal band from Helsinki, formed in 1997. They combine elements of black metal and death metal with the traditional Finnish folk style humppa, and most of their songs, interestingly, are sung in Swedish. The lyrics often explore myths, trolls, and conflicts between pre-Christian beings and the arrival of Christianity in the imaginary realms of trolls. The current lineup includes: Mathias “Vreth” Lillmåns (vocals), Samuli “Skrymer” Ponsimaa (guitar), Mikael “Routa” Karlbom (guitar), Sami “Tundra” Uusitalo (bass), Aleksi Virta (keyboards), Henri “Trollhorn” Sorvali (keyboards/guitar in studio work), and Heikki “Mörkö” Saari (drums).
Heidevolk is a folk/viking metal band from the Dutch city of Arnhem, formed in 2002 under the name Hymir. Their songs are mostly in Dutch, and thematically they explore nature, Germanic mythology, and the history of the Gelderland province. Their style is characterized by clean male vocals (often in duet), a blend of powerful metal riffs and folk melodies, and very energetic performances which the Zagreb audience has already had the chance to witness.
Trollfest (stylized as TrollfesT) is a Norwegian folk metal band from Oslo, formed in 2003. They combine metal with folk elements – accordion, saxophone, guitars – and write lyrics mostly in the invented language “Trollspråk” (a mix of Norwegian and German). They are known for their fun, energetic performances, and humor, often thematizing trolls, beer, and partying, just as it should be.
The Dread Crew of Oddwood is an American “pirate” folk/metal band from San Diego, formed in 2008. They use exclusively acoustic instruments, which is why they call their style “heavy mahogany”. The band writes songs about piracy, adventures, merriment, battles, and themes that capture the spirit of outlaw life and nautical romance.
