Vanesa Petrac and Ivan Marojević combine synth pop, neo-rave, dawless electronics, and performance art to create a unique audio-visual experience that blurs the boundaries between a concert, an art performance, and a rave.

With more than 300 shows behind them and a nomination for the Ambassador Award for Best Regional Live Act, Cura i Dečko have built a cult following among fans of alternative electronics, DIY culture, and unconventional live performances. Their shows are known for raw energy, immediacy, and a strong sense of community, making them the perfect introduction to CocoRosie’s avant-garde universe.

New Weird America and the Avant-Garde Sound of CocoRosie

CocoRosie are known for their unique approach to music. Their songs combine poetry, unusual rhythms, the lo-fi sound of toy instruments, and classical arrangements.

The result is an atmosphere that feels gentle, dark, and completely unpredictable at the same time. This is one of the reasons why CocoRosie are often associated with the “New Weird America” movement, which embraces experimental approaches to folk and alternative music.

Why This Concert Is Special

CocoRosie’s return to Zagreb after nearly two decades is one of the most intriguing alternative music events of the year. Their performances often exist somewhere between a concert, a theatrical production, and an art performance.

Audiences at Močvara will have the opportunity to experience the unique artistic world of the Casady sisters up close. The evening gains even more depth with the addition of Cura i Dečko, whose unconventional aesthetic and free-spirited approach fit perfectly into the atmosphere of the event.

Conclusion

CocoRosie in Zagreb will bring an evening of experimental pop, avant-garde aesthetics, and powerful artistic expression. The June 14 concert at Močvara will be a rare opportunity to experience this cult duo live in Croatia once again.

Alongside CocoRosie, audiences will also witness a performance by regional rave phenomenon Cura i Dečko, making this one of the most distinctive alternative music events of the year.

CURA I DEČKO – A Regional Rave Phenomenon Between Synth Pop and DIY Culture

Who Are Cura i Dečko

Cura i Dečko have built a cult following on the regional alternative and club scene. The duo consists of Vanesa Petrac and Ivan Marojević. Through raw energy, a DIY approach, and a distinctive artistic vision, they create an experience that sits somewhere between a concert, a performance piece, and a rave.

Their sound combines synth pop, neo-rave, and dawless electronics. Hypnotic vocals, loops, and pulsating rhythms create an atmosphere that works equally well on a dance floor, in a theatre, or within an art space.

Between Club Euphoria and Emotional Introspection

The duo gained wider attention with the single “Trebala, morala”. The track became one of the standout releases of the regional underground scene. Through their more recent material, they have further expanded their signature sound. Their music balances club euphoria, dancefloor energy, and emotional introspection.

Rather than following trends, they create their own space where electronic music, performance art, and genuine emotion intersect.

More Than 300 Shows and a Reputation as a Must-See Live Act

Cura i Dečko have performed more than 300 shows at festivals, clubs, and showcase events throughout the region. Their work has also been recognized by the industry. They received a nomination for the Ambassador Award for Best Regional Live Act.

They win audiences over with their energy, immediacy, and sense of community. Every performance creates a strong connection between the duo and the crowd. This helped establish them as one of the most exciting live acts on the regional alternative scene.

DIY Aesthetics, Queer Identity, and Rave as a Space of Freedom

A defining feature of the duo is the strong DIY and queer aesthetic that runs through their entire artistic output. Their performances feel like small manifestos of freedom, dance, and togetherness. They blur the boundaries between performer and audience.

Cura i Dečko shows are not typical warm-up sets or standard club gigs. They are full-scale audio-visual rave performances. Audiences are quickly pulled into a world of pulsating synths, driving basslines, and uninhibited energy.

Cura i Dečko Live

Anyone who has seen them live knows it is an experience that is difficult to forget. Their combination of electronic music, performance art, and dancefloor energy turns the audience into an active part of the show.

Let yourself be carried away by their vision. Surrender to a healthy rave spirit and discover why Vanesa’s answer to the question “What are you on?” is always the same:

“On my feet.”
