A British indie romantic premieres at Tvornica kulture

London bohemian, romantic, and one of the most distinctive voices of the British indie scene, Pete Doherty, will make his regional debut on May 5, 2026, at Tvornica kulture as part of the European tour From the Baltic to the Bosphorus. The evening will be opened by Zagreb-based band Tidal Pull.

In May 2026, Doherty will perform in the region for the very first time, with two exclusive concerts organized by Hangtime – in Zagreb and Belgrade. The Zagreb show at Tvornica kulture will be a unique chance to experience him live in an intimate club setting.

His artistic path, shaped by fragile ballads, raw rock’n’roll, and a life lived on the edge – more literally than metaphorically – has long been part of 21st-century pop culture history. Doherty has that rare charisma audiences want to experience up close. This will not be a show to casually listen to over a drink.

The artist who defined a British indie era

He first gained wider recognition in the early 2000s as co-founder and frontman of The Libertines, a band that shook the British rock scene with raw energy and strong poetic identity. After their success, he formed Babyshambles and confirmed his status as one of the most intriguing British artists of his generation.

His songwriting blends punk heritage, romantic poetry, and the everyday life of London. His songs often feel like personal diaries, creating a deep emotional connection with the audience.

Life between the UK and France

His life, marked by personal struggles and turbulent periods, has often been in the public eye. Despite everything, his creativity has never faded. In recent years, he has divided his time between the UK and France, where he continues to write, record, and perform.

His personal and artistic journey is documented in the film Stranger in My Own Skin (2023), offering a rare and honest insight into his world. The film is directed by Katia de Vidas, his wife.

Pete Doherty live – between intimacy and rock’n’roll

On stage, Doherty balances delicate ballads, spontaneous improvisation, and raw rock energy. His voice carries traces of both downfall and recovery, adding depth and authenticity to his performances.

The show at Tvornica kulture will offer a full range of his expression – from quiet, intimate moments to anthemic choruses that the audience will surely sing along to.

Tidal Pull – a local voice of a new indie generation

The night will open with Zagreb-based band Tidal Pull, known for their unique approach to indie music. They sing in Croatian while playing in an “English” sonic language, blending local expression with an international aesthetic.

They have released three albums so far and continue to push their own boundaries, building a recognizable identity between self-awareness and irony. Their live performance brings direct energy and sets the tone for the evening.

Tickets and sales

A limited number of early bird tickets priced at €35 is available via the Hangtime web until February 16 or until sold out.

After that, presale tickets will cost €40, while tickets at the door will be €45, if available.

Pete Doherty – London Bohemian And Voice Of A British Indie Generation

Who Is Pete Doherty

Pete Doherty is one of the most distinctive songwriters of the British indie scene and an artist whose work has already become part of 21st century pop culture history. A London bohemian and romantic figure, he blends fragile ballads, raw rock’n’roll and deeply personal storytelling that often blurs the line between art and real life.

His songwriting sits at the crossroads of punk heritage, romantic poetry and everyday urban London life. Doherty’s songs often feel like musical diary entries, which makes it easy for audiences to connect with his lyrics and emotional delivery.

The Libertines And Babyshambles – Bands That Defined A Generation

He rose to wider recognition in the early 2000s as co-founder and frontman of The Libertines. The band reshaped the British rock landscape with raw energy, poetic songwriting and strong generational identity.

Life Between London And France

Much of his personality was shaped by London street culture, but also by football culture. Doherty is a passionate supporter of Queens Park Rangers and has often performed wearing club shirts. At one point, he even edited and sold a QPR fanzine.

His life has frequently been covered by media due to personal struggles and turbulent periods. Despite this, his creativity has remained strong. In recent years, he has been living between the United Kingdom and France, continuing to write, record and perform.

His personal and artistic journey was documented in the film Stranger in My Own Skin (2023), offering an intimate insight into his world. The film was directed by Katia de Vidas, his partner and wife.

TIDAL PULL – Zagreb Indie Between Self-Awareness and Irony

Who are Tidal Pull

Tidal Pull are a Zagreb-based hard-boiled indie band that sing in Croatian while playing in an “English” musical language. This contrast immediately sets them apart on the regional scene. Their sound blends a local voice with an international aesthetic, creating music that feels both familiar and slightly off-center.

Development and releases

The band has released three albums so far. Each one marks a shift in sound and approach. They do not follow a fixed formula but constantly question their own identity. In the process, they have even “buried” two of their own genres, which says a lot about how they see their work.

Sound and approach

Their music draws from indie traditions but avoids clichés. Guitars, rhythm, and production often echo British and American influences. At the same time, the vocals and lyrics remain firmly rooted in their own context. This combination creates a clear and recognizable identity.

Lyrics and aesthetics

Their lyrics balance self-awareness and irony. The band reflects on themselves and the world without falling into sentimentality. The result is a mix of personal and detached storytelling, often with a subtle sense of humor.

Tidal Pull live

On stage, they deliver a direct and honest performance. The focus is on energy and connection with the audience. Their shows are not overproduced, and that simplicity becomes their strength.
