Early years and first demos
Alestorm was formed 21 years ago in Perth, Scotland. The group started as Battleheart, writing songs about pirates and epic adventures. They recorded several demos and quickly gained a local fan base, without knowing how far they would go.
Napalm Records and name change
In 2007, Austrian label Napalm Records discovered them. After changing their name to Alestorm, they signed a five-album contract. Their debut Captain Morgan’s Revenge (2008) instantly placed them high on the global metal scene.
Tours and major festivals
Following their debut, they toured with bands such as Turisas, Sabaton, Dragonforce and Eluveitie. Soon they appeared at major festivals like Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, Graspop Metal Meeting and Sweden Rock Festival, winning over audiences with their unique theme.
Pirate metal and performance style
Their genre, known as pirate metal, mixes heavy metal, folk and epic melodies inspired by the sea, adventures and rum. Concerts are eccentric and energetic – full of dancing, jumping, sweat and pure party spirit.
Discography and lineup
The band has released eight albums to date. Current members are: Christopher Bowes (vocals), Mate Bodor (guitar), Gareth Murdock (bass), Elliot Vernon (keyboards) and Peter Alcorn (drums). Fan favorites include “Drink”, “P.A.R.T.Y.”, “Mexico” and “Keelhauled.”
