Leæther Strip is the solo project of Danish musician Claus Larsen, launched in 1988 after years of involvement in smaller bands. In 1989, he signed with the German label Zoth Ommog, which quickly placed him at the forefront of the European electro-industrial movement. His debut single, “Japanese Bodies”, became an underground hit and marked the arrival of a new and uncompromising voice in the genre.
Rise in the 1990s
During the 1990s, Leæther Strip became one of the most influential acts in the EBM and industrial scene. Albums such as Pleasure of Penetration and Solitary Confinement established his reputation for powerful beats and dark atmospheres, while Serenade for the Dead demonstrated his ability to create hauntingly melodic soundscapes.
