Who Are The Countess
The Countess is a gothic metal band from Sinj, Croatia, founded in 2017. Their music is inspired by fantasy literature and the sound of late-90s and early-2000s gothic metal bands. From the beginning, the band has focused on atmosphere, melody and strong metal energy.
Their sound combines neoclassical melodies, powerful riffs and energetic rhythms. A key element is the mix of deep male vocals and high female vocals. This approach reflects influences from bands such as Nightwish, Therion and Theatre of Tragedy. At the same time, The Countess builds its own identity through modern production and original songwriting.
Live Activity And International Shows
Since their formation, the band has been very active on stage. They perform in clubs and festivals, quickly building an audience within the gothic and symphonic metal scene.
A major milestone came when they won the Metal Days New Forces competition. This achievement helped position them as one of the most promising new names in the regional metal scene.
In 2023, the band joined the Fairy Folk Tour in Poland. The tour included shows in Częstochowa, Katowice, Poznań and Wrocław. These performances helped expand their international audience.
The Album “Sacramental”
In May 2023, the band released their long-awaited album Sacramental. The album was fully recorded and produced by the band members in their home studio in Sinj. This allowed them to keep full creative control over the sound and production.
The first video single from the album was MWC. In May 2024, the band released another video for the song Send the Raven. Both releases strengthened their visual and musical identity.
The debut album Sacramental received strong reactions from both critics and audiences worldwide. It helped establish the band on the international gothic metal scene.
The Countess Today
The Countess continues to develop its sound by combining gothic atmosphere, symphonic elements and modern metal production. The band is becoming one of the more interesting emerging names on the European gothic metal scene.
With strong live activity and growing international interest, the band continues to expand its presence across Europe.

After more than four years away, Sirenia return to Zagreb to perform for their loyal audience. The Norwegian gothic and symphonic metal giants will play at Močvara on May 3 to celebrate 25 years of the band. The occasion is special, and the night will be dedicated to a quarter century of darkness, emotion, and their signature sound. The evening will open with Croatian gothic metal band The Countess from Sinj and Meteora from Budapest, one of the more interesting emerging names on the regional metal scene. Their performances will set the dark atmosphere and prepare the audience for the anniversary show.
