Beginnings and debut album
Naxatras was formed by John Delias (guitar), Kostas Harizanis (drums) and John Vagenas (bass, vocals) fourteen years ago in Thessaloniki. Their self-titled debut album “Naxatras” (2015) quickly became a YouTube sensation. The combination of psychedelic hard rock, hypnotic riffs and uncompromising production made it one of the most popular releases of its genre. The band soon attracted a wider audience, especially among vinyl enthusiasts.
Experimentation and expanding their sound
The second album “II” marked a clear shift towards experimental space rock. On “III”, the band received praise from both fans and critics for blending psychedelia and progressive rock. Their fourth album, released in 2022, opened a new chapter with multi-instrumentalist Pantelis Karganas joining on keyboards. His contribution added depth and complexity to their arrangements, with stylistic changes immediately evident.
Album “V” and a bold step forward
Their latest release “V” (2025) highlights their constant evolution. Naxatras blended 70s progressive rock influences with world music and electronic elements. The result is a sound balancing classic psychedelic structures with modern experimentation, confirming their reputation as one of Europe’s most inventive independent bands. The album was met with enthusiasm, and its tracks regularly appear on international playlists.
Live performances and tours
Their concerts are renowned for strong energy and multisensory experiences. On stage, they combine psychedelic and progressive rock, stoner, funk, jazz and Eastern melodies. A hypnotic video wall enhances the atmosphere and immerses the audience. Naxatras have toured across most European countries and even performed in Australia. Fans describe their shows as journeys that blur the boundaries between sound, light and emotion.
Independent success and originality
The band remains loyal to their DIY ethos. They have sold over 20,000 vinyls and CDs, along with thousands of merchandise items – all self-released. Their production, visuals and performances maintain high quality. Naxatras exist in a universe of their own – authentic, original and deeply connected to their audience.
